How to Turn

Print Article Email article to a friend »

When you first start driving, it will take some time to get the hang of it. Here are some things to keep in mind:

  • If your turn requires a stop, stop at the line on the road before the intersection. If there is no line on the road, stop at the crosswalk or edge of the sidewalk. If there is no crosswalk or sidewalk, pretend there is an imaginary line extending from the stop sign. And stop there.
  • When entering an intersection, ALWAYS look to the left, to the front, to the right, and then to the left again.
  • Make ALL turns from the nearest legal lane into the nearest legal lane. If you don’t understand which lanes are legal, ask your parents to explain.
  • Remember to always use your turn signal – so other drivers know you are turning.
